Bono to Join Boyzone
Matthew Anderson, TheU2Zone News
With a new album due for release, a tour on the horizon, and appearancesanticipated everywhere from an MTV awards show to the United Nations, justhow full is Bono’s plate?
Apparently there’s still time available to play Louis Walsh, the manager ofthe boy band Boyzone in an upcoming bio-pic of the young Irish quintet.
According to Boyzone’s Stephen Gately, the U2 frontman has agreed to playWalsh, however they’re still waiting for just the right script.
“He definitely doesn’t remind me of Louis,” Gately told worldpop, “but Ithink he’d be able to play him brilliantly because he knows him really well.”
U2 fans will recognize Boyzone as the group huddling around Bono’s car inthe video for “The Sweetest Thing”.
They also had a hit single on North American easy-listening stations in “NoMatter What”, written by Andrew Lloyd-Webber for his musical Whistle Downthe Wind.
Gately wants the script to properly reflect what the band is all about. “Weneed one that will show all the laughs and jokes because we’ve had somebrilliant times over the years,” Gately commented. “We’ve got a few majorfilm companies interested in it.”
Audiences can also look forward to watching Gately sharpen his acting teethin the upcoming Harry Potter movie.
